SSVII: UNNATURAL CHANNEL
24–28 MARCH 2027 / LONDON
Sunday School returns in March 2027 with its most expansive edition yet. For the first time, the festival unfolds across five days, bringing together music, film, discourse and independent publishing through a programme spanning multiple spaces across London.
ENTER THE UNNATURAL CHANNEL
Originally inspired by Drew McDowall’s 2017 album of the same name, UNNATURAL CHANNEL takes the phrase into a wider framework for this year’s festival: underground and countercultural practice as an alternative communications infrastructure, operating beyond dominant systems of visibility and value.
At a moment when attention has become a currency and cultural discovery is increasingly shaped by systems designed to capture it, the festival looks towards independent culture as a space where different forms of exchange can continue to take place. How can artists and communities build their own channels for sharing work, ideas and information?
Across music, film, talks and publishing, SSVII explores the histories and possible futures of DIY networks, independent distribution, physical media and shared experience — not as nostalgia, but as practices that continue to evolve.
THE FIRST ARTIST + SCREENING
We’re excited to announce DREW MCDOWALL as the first artist joining SSVII, performing at the Saturday 27 March Warm-Up Show at Eastway Baths.
We’re also announcing a London screening of We’re Making a Film About Mark Fisher, followed by a Q&A with the filmmakers, co-presented with CLOT Magazine and moderated by Mila Azimonti. The film explores Fisher’s life, work and continuing influence, opening up questions about culture, collective experience and the ways art is made and encountered.
ACROSS THE WEEK
A new series of intimate midweek events will bring together screenings, presentations and discussions before the live programme takes over across the weekend. Saturday 27 March features the Warm-Up Show, while Sunday 28 March brings the main Sunday School gathering back to New River Studios, followed by the late-night After Party at Low Profile Studios.
Sunday’s Main Show will also host an expanded independent market. Labels, publishers, record stores, artists and small projects will bring records, books, zines, editions and other objects into a shared physical space — a place to discover work and meet the people behind it.
FIRST TICKET RELEASE / 10 BLIND FAITH WEEK PASSES
To mark the first announcement, we’re introducing just 10 Blind Faith Week Passes. These are the only all-week passes planned for SSVII: once the ten are gone, there will be no second release.
Each pass covers the festival programme from Wednesday through to the final hours of Sunday, including midweek talks and screenings, Saturday’s live programme, Sunday’s Main Show and the After Party. The Friday 26 March film and live-score event at Garden Cinema is the sole exception and will be ticketed separately through the cinema.
Ticket availability and booking links will be confirmed on the Tickets page. This post describes the first release, not live availability.
MORE TO COME
Many more artists, films, talks, performances and collaborations will be revealed over the coming months. This is only the first transmission.
